With so many expats from the UK residing in Brussels, there has always been an outcry for delicious fried fish, which has largely gone unheard – until now. With the opening of Bia Mara, Brussels, fans of fish and chips in Brussels, can rejoice and sleep easy, knowing their choice is sustainable too.
Last week we were invited to visit Smoods restaurant in the Hotel Bloom, Brussels, to sample their new seasonal menu featuring wild game. It was an evening of lovely surprises.
If you’ve spent any time in Brussels, you’ve probably noticed the Palace of Justice’s hulking form, covered in scaffolding, towering over Place Poelaert. But few visitors peek inside this enormous building, even though it is free to enter, and definitely worth a look around.
Every other year, for five short days, the Grand Place of Brussels, Belgium is a riot of colour. The bi-annual Flower Carpet appears on postcards, calendars and images of Brussels for years to come, but only those who visit the city during those special days in August are lucky enough to see it in person. This year, early one morning, we were among them.
Last weekend, we spent an incredible evening, in an intimate setting, eating a meal prepared right in front of us, by a Michelin starred chef, as the sun set over Brussels – All while hanging suspended from a crane at Dinner in the Sky.
It’s not every night you eat a four-course meal while riding around Brussels on a tram, but maybe it should be.
