There’s no doubt, Paris is a beautiful city, filled with incredible photographic possibilities. I’ve taken photos on all of our trips to Paris. But it wasn’t until my last visit, that I actually had time to photograph the city and some of its landmarks in a way I felt captured the essence of Paris.

Ah Amsterdam, so much to miss…
If you dig way, way back in the CheeseWeb archives, you’ll find the saga of our arrival in Europe. Those days, CheeseWeb was simply a personal journal for my close friends and family, back home in Canada. You’ll find a lot of (badly written) posts about our time in Amsterdam, from 2004 and 2005, but since those days, I’ve written very little about one of my favourite cities in the world.
Despite the relatively short time we spent living there, (7 months in total) it still feels like home, when we visit. So today I’d like to share a bit of my Amsterdam with you, with six things I miss about Amsterdam.

We have loads of food options in Brussels. I’ve fallen in love with cuisines I had never even tasted before settling in Belgium. But still, there is no decent Mexican restaurant in Brussels. If we want a nice, sit-down dinner of incredible Mexican food, we need to drive to Amsterdam. We NEED Los Pilones.
The Palais Garnier – Paris’ famous Opera House
While planning a trip to Paris with my best friend last summer, I knew we’d be visiting many of the tourist sites I had seen in the past. One of her requests however, was a new one for me – The Palais Garnier, Paris’ famous opera house.
How do you fall in love when so many others are vying for your love’s attention?
Paris, France – It’s the city of lights, of poetry, of romance. It’s a city people fantasise about visiting and romantics fall in love with instantly. For me however, Paris wasn’t love at first sight. This is the story of my late blooming love affair with Paris.

Where do you find both a Mediterranean garden and a tropical rainforest in the middle of the English countryside? Under the giant domes of the Eden Project in Cornwall of course.

I travel often, and for that, I am immensely grateful. Most of my trips I would relive in a heartbeat, however, there have been a few nightmare trips from hell. This was the case on my last trip across the pond, the weekend London tried to kill me.
