When we first moved to Belgium, we sold just about everything we owned. It was a tough and emotional process, but through it, we learned some valuable lessons about what is essential to our lives. We’re currently in the process of downsizing all over again, to move to an even smaller space – a motorhome! We keep our sanity through this process by reminding ourselves that making memories and sharing experiences together is much more important than owning stuff.

I know it’s a bit long for our point-and-click age, but I urge you to take the time to check it out. The Story of Stuff talks about the things we buy – where they come from, what cost they have to the Earth and the people on it, and what happens when we are through with them.
