10 Best Ruins and Ancient Sites in Europe in Photos
We share our the ten best ruins and ancient historical sites we’ve visited in Europe from castles to aqueducts to a classical theatre.
Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur is one of the regions we’ve spent the most time in, in France. Provence was the destination of our very first getaway from Belgium and we fell instantly in love with the rugged landscape, rich history, and laid-back atmosphere. During that first trip, we explored Avignon, Orange, Arles, Les-Baux-de-Provence, and Mont Ventoux; places we would return to again and again.
We’ve also made the entire drive along the Côte d’Azur twice, overnighting in Nice on both occasions, and Alison spent a weekend discovering both the luxurious and the hidden side of Cannes.
While we haven’t seen as much of the French Alps as we would like to, we expect our motorhome will be making the climb in the not so distant future.
