Our Maritime Canada Whirlwind Tour

Ewan William Matheson
Since CheeseWeb’s format change, back in the spring, there has been a lot more ‘Belgium’ on the blog and a lot less of me. I know there are a few of you who still come here to get the dirt on what Andrew and I have been up to, so this post is for you. Those of you who come here for the Belgium info, don’t worry, I’ll be back to my regularly scheduled Belgian info posting next week.
Did anyone else wake up to discover it is suddenly winter, or is it just me? First of all, let me apologise for being MIA from CheeseWeb for so long. Andrew and I spent the past three weeks in Canada, doing the whirlwind visiting tour of the Maritimes.
Our travels took us first to Saint John, to spend time with my family and my wonderful friend Jenn. We were wined and dined (several times over) and had a day or two of relaxation with my folks, as well as some retail therapy.
We took a day trip from there to Oromocto to meet our band new nephew Ewan William Matheson, who stormed into the world weighing an impressive 9 lbs 3ozs. He is the most adorable little guy in the world and we are so happy for his mom and dad, Dan and Beth. Congrats guys!

From Saint John, we made a quick pit stop in Pugwash to visit Andrew’s parents and rest up for our big weekend. The weekend consisted of our first ever Cape Breton wedding and we had a great time. A quick but beautiful ceremony was followed by a much longer reception and of course a great party. We were fortunate enough to be able to spend a bit of time with our newly wedded friends, Dylan and Kara, before they took off on their honeymoon. Congratulations guys! We miss you here in Belgium.
Then it was back to Pugwash for another quick rest before heading to Halifax for two days of intensive visiting and shopping. It was way too short! (The visiting, that is… Any more shopping would have killed us and our wallets.) I was able to meet up with my girls Amy, Michelle and Cheri but I really wish we had have had more time to spend with everyone.

On Friday we hijacked Katie and made our final trip to Pugwash where the entire Matheson clan gathered for a combo Halloween and 60th birthday2 celebration. Sunday night, it was back to Halifax to crash with Kate and her roommates, their dog Dublin and her adorable, if slightly psychotic, kitten Stevie.
Our flight home was uneventful as it should be and now we are both suffering from insomnia/jet-lag that will hopefully be cured by a lazy Sunday.
I can’t afford to be too lazy however, as I am in the final preparation stages for my photography exhibition at the Brussels Accessible Art Fair in two weeks! More on this next week so stay tuned!
