My Nova Scotia - ocean, rocks, colour and wide open spaces

I’ve just spent the past hour watching videos about Nova Scotia and I am feeling utterly homesick. Lately I’ve been a ‘love the place you live’ sort of gal, but these videos are making it hard not to be at home this summer.

The videos are part of a contest sponsored by Nova Scotia.com, the official tourism website of Nova Scotia. The goal is to create a video with the theme “I Love Nova Scotia.”

We don’t meet many people over here who know much about our home. In fact, to most Europeans, Montreal is about as east as it gets in Canada. Those who have heard of Halifax, recognise it as a dot on the map they flew over on the way to Toronto or Vancouver. So for a bit of education, I thought I’d share a taste of home with these videos.

What do I love about Nova Scotia? The sound of the ocean crashing on the rocks, the smell of salt in the air, the wide open spaces, the autumn colours so bright they hurt your eyes, the music that surrounds you as you walk the streets of Halifax, the spontaneous parties in a friends kitchen and most of all the warmth of the people.

This video has the most votes in the contest right now and it definitely shows many of the things that I miss.

This one might just get my vote however. I makes me feel truly lucky to be Canadian.
