I just finished listening to a really great interview with one of my favourite bands, Shaye. Shaye is made up of three women with solo careers in their own right – Kim Stockwood, Tara McLean and Damhnait Doyle. They are all Atlantic Canadian girls and their music is a magical blend of harmony and beautiful lyrics.
Andrew and I caught a performance when they began their first tour. It was one of the best I’ve seen. I ran out and bought the album and was hooked. In fact, their song Beauty became my expat anthem and I think the lyrics still sum up a lot of my feelings about living this life.
They just released their latest album – Ring of Fire. I’ve been listening to it on their website and I can’t wait to get my hands on the real one. In the interview, they talked about their latest album, but also about the current political climate in Canada and our roll in Afghanistan. Even if you aren’t a fan of the music, they are engaging women and the interview is really interesting.

Alison, hi. It’s been so hectic I really don’t know where my head is
. Read your comments on Soul. Heard only good things about it so now that you confirm it as well, I’ll have to give it a try. Never been to it and am very curious about it.

Shaye is a wonderful group… great vocals, tunes and fabulous lyrics. I haven’t checked out the interview yet, but I will eventually. When will the CD arrive?

Christina – That song always makes me cry too. I think there are so many different ways you can read into it.
