Valentine’s Day is only overrated if you don’t have someone great to share it with. Luckily for me, my husband is pretty wonderful. Of course you won’t hear me saying that all of the time. Usually, I can be hear whining about how he works way too much, is always late for, and forgets everything. But really, I can’t spend too much time talking about how great he is, because then everyone would want him.

Ok, so Andrew and I haven’t always had the best Valentine’s Days. One in particular comes to mind as the most pathetic Valentine’s Day ever. Andrew didn’t bother to make reservations (I mean it’s only the busiest restaurant day after New Year’s Eve, but hey…) and we ended up ‘dining’ at Burger King. It hasn’t always been a Fairy Tale.

But last night, despite Andrew running late (as usual), and despite Belgium raining on our parade (ditto), we had a great supper out.

We went to Citizen. I had been wanting to try it since Andreea wrote of it. It was packed, but luckily Andrew has learned from the BK incident.

Citizen is a cozy yet modern spot that serves all manner of Asian food. We opted for the special Valentine’s Day menu. It began with a Champagne and Rose Liqueur aperitif. Then we each had a plate of mixed appetizers (spring rolls, dim sum, won tons). Andrew had a Sate Beef Stir Fry and I had a Red Curry Chicken both with rice. We washed it down with a lovely Cote de Rhone and finished it off with a chocolate desert.

The best part – they projected Pretty Woman on the blank white wall behind us. There was no sound, but we knew most of the lines by heart. I remembered that Julia played Vivian Ward and her friend was Kit DeLuca. Andrew gets bonus points for remembering that Richard Gere was Edward Lewis.

Of course, to incite the slightest bit of jealousy, I have to mention my Birthday/Valentine’s day gift, (One that I wasn’t supposed to get at all). Andrew is sending me here for a whole day. And the best part – he’s coming too. Love you Drew xox.
